Finally caught the Hunger Games today, and not to mention, with extremely awesome company (:
The bare notion behind the dog-eat-dog games really puts new perspective into whatever prospects or bleak future we are carving for ourselves. I wouldn't even dare to deny that we might one day actually degrade to such an inhumane level where people are coerced to battle for "glory", but deep inside, there is but the earnest desire for survival.
survival.
It's difficult, isn't it? With social pressure, an unhealthy environment, and the interplay of a myriad of other factors, we can never take a breather. We all started with the belief of excellence and the drive to perfection. But nowadays, all we can ask for is the humble grant for survival.
to live and let live.
But we can't. Because our life is exactly like the hunger games. We fight with each other, compete for the same resources and we cannot live and let live because our here, it's the survival of the fittest. You lost sight of something for a second, you lose it forever. Best part is: Nobody's watch. But we don't care.
we fight for the sake of it.
You say we compete because there is no other way out? Bullshit. Just because there are scarce resources doesn't give us the divine right to brutally snatch what we think belongs to us. We will never try to "work together" because nothing ever pulls through with that much deceit clouding the shady atmosphere of our society. Nobody trust nobody, and nobody ever will. We pretend we do.
but we don't.
Are you hungry? Hungry to fight? Hungry to win? Hungry to stay alive?
I know I am.
Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
(But secretly, I wish you imminent death.)
