Had my first OG outing today and it was an extreme blast (you can't really expect less from such an awesome bunch of people right?!) In essence, we joined this external flash mob crew (or something) and we went about in groups of 2-3 giving out free hearts, all in good nature of spreading the love. It soon transformed into a publicity stunt and somewhat desperate race to give all our hearts away and the most convenient excuse was of course Valentine's Day.
Let's ignore the significance and meaningfulness of this event for a moment. Backstage, to this place we call our own, we are but a bunch of puppets mindlessly fumbling around on the streets. What prompted me to say that? To say the least, the fact that people are always looking for a reason behind everything. In this current day and age, it is a faux pas to execute an event without a fundamental cause without it. The ideology of doing things "purely for fun" or simply to "spread the love" has become so alien to our culture. Everything that we do follows a strict checklist and anything without an aim becomes pointless and possibly redundant.
And that kills a little hope inside me. Must we really be so mechanical and rigid all the time? Can't we let our wings spread and just take off into the limitless sky once in a while, dance with the stars and croon with the moon?
If I had a wish for humanity, we wish we could live up to what we were meant to be: Humans.
Then maybe a hug for you wouldn't be such a pain huh?
