That was the perturbing question that Anty that struck me the instant he popped it. It was a compliment and yet a realization.
"You've been quite active this year and we're reaching out to leaders like you."
That statement redefined leadership but more importantly, it redefined my status as a nobody. I never imagined myself born to be a leader or made to lead the majority; I was the majority with no personal mentality--it was the chicken vs eagle game and I, but part of the chain of chicks, disarmed and cowering behind the "protection" of the mother hen. But whatever foreboding trouble comes, everyone is a leader of his own actions and there can never be a single leader who throws in all the life buoys; the responsibility is ours to ensure we have our own life jackets.
But when the storm comes and you realized you don't have any personal floating device, you begin to panic. Amidst such a death-defying cataclysm, the only thing that stand between you and the calamity is a third party--to remind and invoke fresh, perceptive ways to analyze your inner potential. Perhaps, the final tier for my metamorphosis into a majestic swan is to embrace even greater heights. It is not sufficient to simply overcome my inferiority complex and yet remain contented with mediocre-superiority (if there's even such a thin line of division). I need to, well "man up", and reach for the stars, and beyond.
Because my third party had shown himself and made his voice heard.
It's time I made my voice heard.
