Kite runner /7:44 PM

Good books don't run by easily, and even scarcer than those are good friends. Half way into the final years of my secondary school life but it's like it's almost over. The rest of the year will soon be spent wrestling with school work, raising the bar in academics, and surely to preserve those fond memories in Scouts. But after a quick chat with Kwang Ik last night, it just hit me that Scouts was never an activity worth boasting about; no doubt, there was, and still is, no way I can tell someone that rope tying made my life a success without weaving a good bluff. More than just a guise, I had been hypnotized-but by something amazing-the power of friendship and camaraderie.

Brotherhood in 02, as I once recalled describing, is a phenomenon above the expression of words, above things fathomable and experiences explicable (gosh I took 2 minutes and 2 google chrome crashes to remember that word..). And as reluctant as I am, I have to quote 'The Fish' because those words encapsulated the bloodshed we went through as a litter of puppies since we were bubbly Sec 1s.

We make 02 fun.

Duh. That was it.

Those words, still resonant, reaffirm the perspective I have gained towards scouts. Scouts have never been about tying knots, building structures or getting muddy. It has been about tying amazing and wonderfully intricate knots with my best friends, constructing heights beyond achievable feats with my best friends, and rolling in the swamplands and muddy marshes with my best friends.

If they were not there, where would I be?

And as I chase after those long-lost faded cliches I thought scouts sought to give, the reality chases behind me calling for my return. But the run is almost over and none of us are allowed to stop here. The contract runs.

But we'll run together.

After our dreams. After our kite.
