It is awkward and rather weird to put across gratitude to something inanimate and yet tangible at the same time--but I very much want to thank Singapore for its contributions to our welfare and living conditions in which the inhabitants of the little red dot bask in the country's success from a third world nation to a first. I gasp in awe as the national day parade presently features the various aspects of the Army, showcasing its all-rounded defence vehicles and its literally stuns me that something so holistic and well-prepared actually exists without our knowledge. Our country is constantly eyed on by neighboring competitors given its success and without such rock solid defense, it is unfathomable what might happen to our peaceful wellbeing.
Thus, I extend this gratitude not just to the inanimate piece of land that houses me, but to the individuals that make up this entity--our nation! This may sound cheesy or patriotic in some ways but I have lived too long in my own country without feeling any sense of gratitude. So let this year be the time where I indeed fly my flag and rejuvenate my love for the country. Here's a big shoutout to all Singaporeans and the world:
Singapore is my homeland, it is where I (and we) belong.
Singapore is our success, it is the trophy of our success.
Singapore is my benefactor, it is where my heart belongs!
