Hair for hope; Hope for hair /2:27 PM

"can i just donate and tell them not to cut my hair?"

Perhaps the palindrome characteristic of the Hair for Hope cause would be that it reciprocates the reverse of its own title. And with so many appalled faces, most obviously the blind men who have been locked up in their cages of delight living on drugs, no one truly understands the significance of shaving your head for charitable purposes and even worst still, to surrender a lump sum of $30. Conjure up the images of food, goods that you can so easily purchase with that sum of money and yet it has to be given to strangers with cancer, what good will it harness for me? And then the devil returns to caress our soul, congratulating our triumphant over pure goodness (or foolery) and this plain deceit masks our true identity, the human being we could have been, that will never be....

And what an idea to lend moral support by shaving one's head so that the world dotted with cancer patients, encompassed within the misery of embarrassment, may find that it is now shrouded with more balds, more "patients", more people like them... And then we question our moral conscience: was there even a contrast between them and us? Was it the stark bald head that stood out so often, despite being wholeheartedly concealed by their hats, or was it too obvious we couldn't not detect it and yet totally fail to acknowledge the weaknesses of our human stereotypes.

And yet this dilemma of social stigmas and our role in society baffles me when I am caught in this crossfire. Will it be far too embarrassing to be an emcee, all suited up with a nice blazer and a neat tie, in all respects of formality, and yet a patch of plain skin sticks out like no other, or is it far more embarrassing for cancer patients to face the world with shame everyday, with no plausible means of shielding their dismay and dejection, perhaps even surrendering to our cold torture.... Maybe that question shall be answered in due time, hopefully before the event so that I may live with one less regret...

My friends, do me a favor and voice your sincerest opinions so that you may guide and tutor me to the optimum choice... I really do appreciate your tags, thanks :D
